Starting with the New Year, New York will welcome a new minimum wage schedule, along with an increase in the salary threshold exemptions for overtime pay. The scales vary by location and company size, as follows:
- New York City (11+ employees) = $15 an hour/$58,500 per year (to be exempt)
- New York City (10 or fewer employees) = $13.50/$52,650
- Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester Counties = $12/$46,800
- Rest of state = $11.10/$43,264
In New York City, employer size is based on the number of employees employed at all worksites during the current or prior calendar year.
